'Moonshine' Original Textured Palette Knife Oil Painting - Cierra G. Rowe
I wrote this poem for this painting, while it dried. Before I became a painter, I wrote poetry. Occasionally I do write poems to accompany my paintings.
I will fight it tooth and nail
and in the end it won't prevail.
Candles, sunshine, stars and lamps;
The darkness won't get through.
Not used to coping in this way,
Nowhere to run from this pain
but deep inside I hear a voice;
''The darkness won't get through.''
I'm writing this to try and show,
try to mend, try to grow,
It's so hard to let go.
The darkness won't get through.
Around me, your presence swirls;
Your smile and your soft curls,
Your spirit in the skies and moon,
The darkness won't get through.
I know you never went away.
I can see you on some days.
I can hear you too.
The darkness won't get through.
Your strength trickled down to me,
Through time and birth and agony.
I'm standing and I feel you.
The darkness won't get through.
I will fight this punch by kick.
I won't let the sadness stick.
''Lord have mercy'', it's so hard.
The darkness won't get through.
On sunny days, you're around.
On rainy days, you're around.
I know you're not gone.
The darkness won't get through.
We keep in touch in special ways,
from time to time on random days.
It's not enough but that's ok.
The darkness won't get through.
Take a beating and learn to fight.
learn to crawl then learn to thrive.
Laugh and cry and dry those eyes,
The Darkness won't get through.
I really miss you.

'Southern Hospitality' Original Textured Palette Knife Oil Painting - Cierra G. Rowe
The intense glow of a bright sunset looms behind thick bunchy trees; what's within them is anyone's guess but they welcome you no less. Beyond their view are houses scattered across short and long distances, fields spread like butter as far as the eye can see and creatures hiding in their abodes until the moon shows its face. I was born here and If the countryside teaches me anything it's that peace exists. You can't find it through a screen but you can feel it within your heart on evenings like this.

'Lights in a Dark Place' Original Deep Textured Palette Knife Oil Painting - Cierra G. Rowe
Lights from different sources exhale in harmony beneath dark trees and the glare of a blood moon. I have often mentioned that painting has, for me, been akin to a lighthouse guiding me through the fog. This painting reflects that especially given that it took me several months to complete it. This was an instance of art imitating life. Things seem calmer at night, simpler and though in my neck of the woods we are without lighthouses, I still drew inspiration from moments of the surrounding area. On some roads there are no light sources, only windows that blink in the dark, among the trees, reminding you that human life exists beyond your reach. As a reminder this painting hearkens back to what I always try to tell myself; that lights exist in dark places and that good things take time.
